I sculpted this dragon mask in early 2016 and set up a camera to record while I was working. I recently subscribed to Adobe CC and began learning Premiere so I could stitch together all the videos and speed them up!
The mask sculpture is done in Monster Clay and was completed over the course of 10 days. The total recording time was about 8 and a half hours.
I do apologize for the video quality and the black bars on the sides; my camera at the time only supported 4:3 resolution. I hope to have a better setup next time I try something like this!
So… Phoenix, AZ temperatures have once again done their yearly soar into temperatures you can’t really describe to someone unless they’ve been here. Seems like a good time to be a dragon, really. (Or just hide inside and enjoy the fact that air conditioners exist.)
I’ve had the “I Am A Dragon” pinback button design for a while now. I figured it would look excellent as a vinyl decal, so I converted it into a design that could be cut easily on my machine.
I sculpted the original of this miniature dragon fossil in clay, this time with a round chunk of “rock” as the background so it could hang directly on a wall without the need to be framed. Each bone is three dimensional and quite realistic in appearance. The sculpt is about 7″ in diameter. Each finished piece is hand painted by me.
I only have these listed on Etsy when I’ve got one painted and ready to go. If I have any of them available at the moment, they will be at this link: Fossil Dragon Skeleton
For this mask, I set about creating a stylized dragon design that could be worn as a masquerade-style half masque. I really love dragons, if the multitude of them on the website didn’t give me away. I hope it shows in the many details that went into every part of this mask!
A few months back, I decided it was time to get something I’ve wanted for quite a while – a vinyl cutter! I’ve now converted several of my designs to be done as vinyl cutouts. These are outdoor rated, so they’re great for semi-permanent application any number of places – most commonly things like the window of a car or the back of a laptop, but any smooth, flat surface will do.
View all of the vinyl decal designs I’ve made (they’re all available in a variety of colors, too!). Among the designs I’ve done so far are dragons, unicorns, fairies and werewolves, along with some fun video game symbols you might recognize from Mass Effect or Dragon Age. What can I say? I’m a geek through and through. On a related note, here’s what the back of my car looks like these days!
When you want to proudly proclaim your allegiance to those grandest of scaled, fire-breathing beasts, here’s a button design just for you. It features a spiky black dragon spreading brown, leathery wings across a sea of flame, and the bold words, “I AM a DRAGON” across the front.
