I don’t have enough mermaid goodies! So I came up with this design to add at least one more to the mix. This is a brand new design and a new vinyl decal now available in the shop.
So… Phoenix, AZ temperatures have once again done their yearly soar into temperatures you can’t really describe to someone unless they’ve been here. Seems like a good time to be a dragon, really. (Or just hide inside and enjoy the fact that air conditioners exist.)
I’ve had the “I Am A Dragon” pinback button design for a while now. I figured it would look excellent as a vinyl decal, so I converted it into a design that could be cut easily on my machine.
Proclaim it to the world – I AM a dragon!
The rat, scorpion, and Halloween cat are pinback button designs I’ve been bringing to shows for a little while, but hadn’t gotten uploaded to the store! The skulls and “I Love Cats” design are brand new. I just had to turn “I Love Cats” into a vinyl decal too!
This is the artwork for my exclusive print for Phoenix Comicon 2016. We’ve had a brand new, exclusive piece of artwork available for this show each year since we first vended there in 2011.
When you want to proudly proclaim your allegiance to those grandest of scaled, fire-breathing beasts, here’s a button design just for you. It features a spiky black dragon spreading brown, leathery wings across a sea of flame, and the bold words, “I AM a DRAGON” across the front.
I designed this new phoenix originally for doing a silk painting project. While that didn’t completely work out, I loved how the design turned out and decided to use it for other things. The round shape naturally made it an excellent candidate for adding to my collection of buttons!
I call this illustration “Centaur Shamaness”, showing a palomino centaur lady in the forest with her black raven familiar perched on her arm. The horse portion of her body is a lovely tan color, and her hair, mane, and tail are nearly pure white. She’s seated on the grassy floor of a beautiful forest, with green leaves and dangling vines all around.
It’s almost a joke at this point that whenever I try to draw a mermaid, she ends up being non-traditional in some way! From mers with dolphin tails or fish-like faces, to “gorilla whales”, or even the extreme example where a drawing I first envisioned to be a mermaid ended up being a rattlesnake naga living in the middle of a desert, they have never quite been the beautiful fishtailed beings most people associate with the word.
So, I figured it was about time to add an honest-to-goodness fish-tailed mermaid lady to my collection. I colored her in a striking blue and gold motif, in vivid colors as befits a fancy ocean mermaid. Her hair is also a lovely deep blue shade. Here, she’s swimming with a friend, a rusty red colored octopus. I’m a huge fan of cephalopods, and it’s kind of sad I didn’t have one included in any of my artwork up to now! Ah well, problem solved. 🙂
So, a couple friends of mine were getting married. As a present for them, I did this digital painting of their sweet pup, Daxter, a feisty chihuahua mix. This isn’t based directly on any single photo of him; I sketched a pose I liked and then looked at several pictures of him to make sure I got the details right.
He’s such a cutie! He’s one of those dogs who’ll bark up a storm when you first visit, but ten minutes later, he’s your best friend and wants to sit on your lap.
