So why was my 1997 costume a wolf and this one, made a year later, a werewolf? I’m not actually sure, but that’s always how I’ve thought of them. This one was designed to wear clothing though, so perhaps that has something to do with it.
In 1997, I finally got confident enough to try out a fully furred costume!
In 1996, I made what I would consider to be my first reasonably successful costume.
My first dragon costume, done in 1994, was sort of… well, an exercise in what not to do. 🙂
1993 was the year Jurassic Park came out, and it inspired me to make my first Halloween costume. I really had no idea where to start or what materials to use! I tried a couple of times to start with a base of paper mache over a balloon, but finally settled on building papier mache (a type of paper clay) over a base of cardboard. I worked out how to make the jaw move when I opened my mouth. The eyes actually moved as well, but I had to pull strings to “puppeteer” them. You can see the strings if you look closely.
