Rat-a-Sewey - The Web Playable Redux
Sarrah Wilkinson - 10/2/2026

Several years ago, we completed Rat-a-Sewey, our first small game in Unity, and put it out on Itch.io as a downloadable. Since then, I've moved over to Godot, and wanted to rebuild this game in the new engine and as a web playable. And it's now officially out!
Of course, in addition to remaking the game, I wanted to make a few additions and improvements:
- You can no longer click on the hunger meter and drag it like a UI element. Hey, it was my first game!
- Music now crossfades nicely instead of just jumping from one track to the next.
- Screen shake - with an option to disable it if you want, of course.
- Tweaks to Charlie's speed and how the difficulty ramps per level.
- Adjusted the drop rates so you get slightly more food items and it won't just drop 10 poison pills in a row like it used to sometimes do...
- It's now more obvious when you level up.
- New rat hand pointer icon and UI sound effects.
- A surprise new hazard when you make it to level 6!
I would love to hear what you think! I didn't want to change it from the original TOO much, but let me know if you think there's anything that needs improving. Otherwise, enjoy!
And just because I haven't mentioned them in a blog yet (who has two thumbs and is terrible at blogging?) - I've also been doing a bunch of game-ready assets like icons and 3D models and a couple of mobile games on Android you can check out if you'd like!
