This sketch was done for Chichiro on deviantArt.
Acreyu is a strange, fourteen-legged wolfish/foxish creature, here shown wrapped around a dragon gargoyle head.
2000 was the only year I went to Anime Expo, which is kind of a shame, because it was quite fun. A couple of my friends were enamored of Fushigi Yuugi, and had decided to cosplay as characters from it, so I joined in.
Around the same time as I started working on the Eclipse costume, this creature popped into my mind. At the time, I had never heard the phrase “quadsuit”, so I wasn’t sure if what I had in mind could even be done!
Eclipse, created in 1999, was the first of my costumes to actually get a name. I’d been pretty fascinated with the werewolf costumes of Verdun Manor at the time, so I decided to try my hand at a horror-style mask.
So why was my 1997 costume a wolf and this one, made a year later, a werewolf? I’m not actually sure, but that’s always how I’ve thought of them. This one was designed to wear clothing though, so perhaps that has something to do with it.
In 1997, I finally got confident enough to try out a fully furred costume!
