The Seas of Imagination

I was asked to return as a contributing artist for the 2016 Kids Need to Read charity calendar project. I participated for the 2015 calendar with The Treasure of Generations, and was excited to create something new for them!

This whimsical image popped into my mind, an illustration of an open book both surrounded by and from which ocean water sprays, with a majestic sailing ship and a number of creatures both natural and fantastic riding the waves all around it. In the foreground, a great red sea dragon crashes out of the water (It just wouldn't be right for me to make a piece without a dragon!), and nearby, a pod of dolphins and a fish-like mermaid leap. The flaming bull was inspired by one of my favorite books. Behind the ship, a humpback whale breaches, and around it, a hippogriff, a flock of seagulls, and a distant airship soar.

I call this illustration, "The Seas of Imagination". I hope you enjoy it!
